Castle in the Sky

A classic Studio Ghibli movie. It's quite long though. The animation is amazing, the soundtrack is amazing, and the story is beautiful. This was the first Ghibli movie that I watched so I might be a bit biased, but it's great. Overall score: 9/10

Blade

The first blade as I have not seen the rest. A very corny movie especially with the outdated special effects, but that's why it's so good. Just dont pay attention to the odd subplot at the end where his mom wants to have relations with Blade. Overall Score: 9/10

Their Eyes Were Watching God: Zora Neale Hurston

AMAZING. You must read this book at some point. engaging characters, beautiful story, tons of emotion, and very well written. There's not much else I can relly say besides READ THE BOOK. Overall Score: 9.5/10 I am hesitant to give anything a 10 sorry :(

Frankenstein: Mary Shelly

This book was way better than I thought it was going to be. Of course Frankenstein has quite the reputation in modern culture, but the book is quite different from what the monster has become. The book is very well written and has a quite gripping story. Some morons on goodreads dot com complain about the language and the pacing; however, they are stupid and the book came out in 1818, get over it idiots. Overall Score: 7.5/10

Faust Parts 1 and 2: Goethe

This is an amazing play and a classic piece of literature. I was unaware when I started reading that part 1 is the more famous and the only one that people preform. It's truly a gripping play, Demons, Evil, Death, Betrayal, what more could you want in a tragedy. Though I found out that there are multiple versions of the ending which is a little odd (they change the people that get sent to hell). It wraps up very nicely and that's where I should have stopped. Part 2 is really something else. It reads like a fever dream, possibly because it is. There are mythical beasts, faries, sirens, crazy scenes, its just absolute insanity. The thread gets kinda lost in the bonkersness. Overall Score: Part 1: 9/10 Part 2: 5/10

The Confidence Man: Herman Melville

I honestly have no clue why I put myself through this book. The first 35-50 pages start off fairly strong, and you would expect some form of plot to get kicked off. However, the book just turns into this rambling fluff that would bore even the most mindless of fools. I would not read this book if you value your time. Once I had finished the book, I looked into it a little and lo and behold it is social commentary/satire of various writers from the time. Overall Score: 2/10

MOVIE: Speed Racer 2008

This movie is a masterpiece. The combo of a gripping plot, horrible 2008 cgi, and average writing combines for one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Almost every scene is green screened, the backgrounds have no depth, the cars are never explained, there's a chimp, what more could one ask for. The only thing that's odd to me is that all the characters are extremely shallow until about three quarters of the way through the movie. Overall Score: 8.5/10

Demian: Herman Hesse

Herman Hesse is a very good writer, hence his populatiry. There are some interesting ideas about wisdom, knowledge, and being a social outcast. Some strange stuff about the main character wanting to fuck his friends mom (thanks Herman). There are sometimes problems that arise when the MC is not a good person and possibly an unreliable narrator (he very much is in this book) where morons tend to take the types of characters literally, and view them not as porblematic, instead choosing to find them morally sound. Though some people who have poor reading comprehension skills may misinterpret the book, I found it quite enjoyable. Overall Score: 7/10
